Reflection:
In this unit, I learned a lot about succession. I learned about two types (primary and secondary) as well as the stages of succession. For example, in secondary succession in five years you will get new grasses, herbs, and shrubs. Mostly annuals. In 50 years trees might be starting to grow back. As the trees grow back, the grasses and other previous plants will start to die because the trees will be blocking their sunlight.
My favorite activity in this unit was the food chain tag game. It was fun and active. Having a class run around to demonstrate an ecosystem's food chain is a great way to motivate them and get them to learn in a fun way.
On a similar note, my least favorite activity was the terrarium lab because I don't feel that I learned as much from it and it was just observation. I understand that observation is important, but this observation didn't come with a lot of new information and it was really just us watering plants.
As for environmental impact, will continue not littering, because I don't do anything harmful to the environment on purpose or optionally. I will also try to not introduce foreign species to an ecosystem.
